Why People Stay at Lucky

Stability in an Industry That Changes Fast

The oil and gas industry has its ups and downs. Lucky Services was founded in 1986, and we’re still here. We’re part of the Lucky Family of Excellence, and we’re not going anywhere. When you join a Lucky crew, you’re joining a company with nearly 40 years of staying power.

When you’re running a job at 2 AM and something goes sideways, you’ve got an experienced crew you can count on. Operators, floorhands, derrickmen, and supervisors work together. Nobody’s left to figure it out alone.

Our fleet is maintained, inspected, and at the ready. You won’t show up to a location with equipment that makes your job harder or puts you at risk. When a rig rolls out, it’s ready to work.

Start as a floorhand and learn from operators with decades of experience. Move up as you prove yourself. We help people develop if they show up, work hard, and take pride in what they do. Plenty of our crew members have built careers here.

What We’re Looking For

Operators

You know how to run a pulling unit safely and efficiently. You’ve worked on production maintenance, workovers, or completions. You understand that when a customer calls, they’re not making money until we solve their problem. You lead your crew and work hard to get everyone home safely.

Floorhands

You know the work. You follow safety procedures without cutting corners. You understand that oil and gas jobs require focus, teamwork, and showing up when you say you will. Experience with pulling units is a plus, but we’ll train the right person who’s willing to learn the floorhand jobs we run.

Derrickmen

Derrickman jobs at Lucky Services require comfort working at heights and an understanding of the responsibility that comes with it. You know your way around tubulars, slips, and elevators. Safety comes first, and you’ve got the experience to back it up.

Mechanics

Lucky’s mechanics keep rigs running when it matters most. You’ve worked on heavy equipment and hydraulics, and you understand that downtime costs everyone money. ASE certifications matter, but hands-on experience is what we’re looking for.

Drivers

You manage pre-trip inspections, keep accurate logs, and are familiar with DOT regulations. Your clean record and experience with heavy equipment show customers that safety and reliability matter more than speed.

Office & Support Staff

You understand the urgency of field work and communicate clearly under pressure. Logistics coordinators and administrative roles keep our operations running smoothly.

What You Can Expect From Lucky

Competitive Pay

We value our employees and pay them as if we do.

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance (dependent coverage available)
  • 401(k) with company match (1-year waiting period)
  • Work truck provided or vehicle lease program (your choice)
  • Uniforms provided
  • Monthly phone stipend for some positions
  • Mechanics: monthly tool allowance
  • 5 years: leather jacket
  • 10 years: watch
  • 15 years: diamond horseshoe ring
  • 20 years: Rolex
  • 25 years: $1 for every day worked
  • 30 years: $1,000 for every year of service

These aren’t token gestures. They’re proof that people build careers here.

Bring in good people who stick around, and we’ll make it worth your while. Stay six months with a clean record, and there’s a bonus available for both of you.

Safety is the Priority

Every morning starts with a safety meeting. Every job gets a Job Safety Analysis. Every piece of equipment gets inspected monthly. Not just when regulations require it.

Lucky Services was recognized as a Return to Work Champion by the New Mexico Workforce Commission. We’re committed to getting everyone home safe and supporting anyone who’s injured on the job.

We’re all responsible for safety. That’s the crew you’re joining. You watch out for the person next to you, and they watch out for you. That’s how everyone gets home safely.

Lucky team members get additional training beyond OSHA requirements because the most dangerous thing we do is drive these roads. We take that seriously and prioritize safety.

What Makes Lucky Different

We Rely On Each Other

Pulling unit work requires tight coordination among the crew. When you’re handling a tricky pull or running into downhole issues, you’ve got experienced hands on deck who’ve seen it before. We solve problems together, not alone.

We’re Local

Lucky Services started in Hobbs and expanded to Midland. We’re not a national chain that’ll disappear when prices drop. We’re Permian Basin through and through.

We Do What It Takes

We run one of the largest pulling unit fleets in the Permian Basin. Production maintenance, workovers, completions. Whatever the job requires, we’ve got the equipment and crews to handle it.

Customers Come Back

We get repeat calls because we run safe, efficient jobs. Our rig crews know that getting the customer back online quickly is the priority, which is why they keep calling Lucky Services.
